Caramelized Onion Bacon Dip (Print View)

Sweet caramelized onions and smoky bacon combined with creamy sour cream create a flavorful dip.

# Components:

→ Vegetables

01 - 2 large yellow onions, finely diced

→ Meats

02 - 8 oz bacon, chopped

→ Dairy

03 - 2 cups sour cream

# Method:

01 - In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the chopped bacon until crispy, approximately 8 to 10 minutes. Remove the bacon using a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels. Reserve 2 tablespoons of bacon fat in the skillet and discard any excess fat.
02 - Add finely diced onions to the skillet containing the reserved bacon fat. Cook over medium-low heat, stirring occasionally, until the onions are deeply golden brown and caramelized, about 20 to 25 minutes. Allow to cool slightly.
03 - In a medium bowl, thoroughly mix the caramelized onions, crisp bacon, and sour cream until fully incorporated.
04 - Refrigerate the mixture for at least 30 minutes to meld flavors. Serve chilled with chips, crackers, or fresh vegetable sticks.
