Sharp cheddar, bacon, and apple meet between golden bread for a savory, sweet, melty treat.
# Components:
→ Bread & Dairy
01 - 4 slices hearty sandwich bread (sourdough or country loaf recommended)
02 - 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
03 - 4 ounces sharp cheddar cheese, sliced
→ Meat
04 - 4 slices thick-cut bacon
→ Fruit
05 - 1 small crisp apple (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp), thinly sliced
# Method:
01 - Arrange bacon slices in a skillet and cook over medium heat until evenly crisp. Transfer bacon to a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess fat.
02 - Spread softened butter evenly over one side of each bread slice.
03 - Place two bread slices, buttered side down, on a clean surface. Layer each with half the cheddar cheese, a layer of thinly sliced apples, and two slices of cooked bacon. Top each with another bread slice, buttered side up.
04 - Heat a nonstick skillet or griddle over medium-low heat. Place assembled sandwiches in the pan and cook for 3 to 4 minutes per side, pressing gently, until the bread is deeply golden and the cheese is fully melted.
05 - Transfer sandwiches to a cutting board. Cut in half and serve immediately while hot.
